Announcing the 2020 Hunterdon Prep Summer Reading Program.
This year's Commencement was scheduled to be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Although Governor Murphy has announced that he will allow in-person graduation celebrations beginning on July 6, he has yet to lift the ban on outdoor gatherings of more than 25 people.
Information about Summer Discovery
The HPS staff is working continually to create ways to keep our students engaged and feeling connected to our school community.
It has been nearly three school weeks since Governor Murphy’s Executive Order mandated that all NJ schools become distance learning environments. It has been a monumental task for NJ schools to make these change literally overnight, even for schools like HPS that had the technical architecture necessary to succeed already in place. On the one hand, we can take comfort in the fact that this is a temporary situation. On the other, we do not know how much longer the distance learning model will be in play. In the meantime, there are a few ways that you can help our staff provide the best experience for your child.
Summer Discovery will be held July 6 - August 14, 2020.
The Governor’s new Order now closes all schools through April 17. Our Spring Break (April 10-April 17, 2020) will remain as scheduled. Virtual classes will not be held during the break. We have also decided that Friday, April 3rd, and Thursday, April 9th will be early dismissal days. The school day will end at 12:30 and no instruction or assignments will be given during these afternoons.
W we are following the recent Executive Order from Governor Murphy that directed: "All public, private, and parochial preschool programs, and elementary and secondary schools, including charter and renaissance schools, will be closed beginning on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, and remain closed as long as the Order remains in effect".
On March 5, 2020, the New Jersey Commissioner of Education sent out a guidance letter to educators regarding the possibility of school closures and the continuity of education should that happen. The guidance emphasizes that the most important things for schools to do now is to plan and prepare. Schools are to develop a School Closure Preparedness Plan that would allow schooling to continue in the event that the Department of Health or a health officer of our jurisdiction institutes a public health-related closure. The plan allows for online home instruction to count towards the 180 school day requirement.
