your impact
Your gifts to the Hunterdon Preparatory School are critical in helping us maintain the extraordinary educational and extracurricular programs that set our school apart. In the last year more than 200 alumni, parents, friends, community members, and businesses have donated to Hunterdon Prep. These gifts have a direct impact on the educational experiences of our students and better position us to continue providing the best quality eduction to future students. Every donation, regardless of size, makes a difference to our students. Look below at the impact your gifts have had! Please consider a donation to our Education Enrichment Fund. Hunterdon Preparatory School is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization and your gifts are fully tax deductible.
Program Enrichment
Your donations to Hunterdon Preparatory School’s Annual Fund are unrestricted and allow us to fortify and enrich our programming wherever and whenever a need may arise. Because of your support, the HPS film class is creating short films and videos with recently purchased 4k digital video cameras. Our art students benefit from newly purchased classroom furniture from which they create art, and a new potter’s wheel will arrive soon from which our ceramics students will create new ceramic works. This year, our English classes will reinforce their classroom studies and visit New York City to see Othello on Broadway. Through your generosity, the possibilities of how we support our students are endless.
SMART Technology
Technology allows us to enrich and enhance our students’ learning experiences. Through your recent support, Hunterdon Prep was able to purchase a Promethean Smart Board for use in our classrooms. This bright and responsive hands-on learning tool can accommodate our students’ many learning styles. With interactive video and touch screen capability, our teachers can engage students in collaborative and interactive lessons. The Promethean Board is portable and can easily be moved from classroom to classroom, allowing students to access its benefits in all subject areas. We thank our supporters for providing us with the tools to keep our students and teachers up to speed with educational technology.
Hunterdon Prep at RVCC
Hunterdon Prep 12+ students on the campus of Raritan Valley Community College receive support and assistance from HPS staff in the transition from high school to post secondary education. It is a big step in moving toward college life, employment, and independent living. With funds donated by our supporters we were able to purchase additional resources to support our students on campus. The support and generosity of our families, friends, and community partners, allow us to create endless possibilities for our students.
Vocal Booth
Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, our music studio received a major upgrade with the installation of a professional vocal booth. The soundproof, ventilated booth is large enough to accommodate three singers or two instrumentalists for recording and rehearsal sessions. This enables our students to work on projects throughout the school day without disrupting classes or having to address audio interference from nearby classrooms or hallways. Your financial support provides for new creative learning opportunities for our students.
New Hunterdon Prep Vans
We are excited to announce that a portion of the funds raised through our 2019 Outside the Box Evening of Support Fundraiser allowed us to purchase two new passenger vans for our school. Our curriculum integrates field trips, internships, and community learning opportunities into our student's days. Safe and reliable transportation is crucial and we are very thankful for our donors and sponsor, Flemington Car & Truck County, which made the purchase of the vans possible.
The Community Garden
The inspiration for a Hunterdon Prep Community Garden came from the vision of an outdoor garden area where produce could be grown for use at the school and for sharing with surrounding communities. Students, staff, and community volunteers worked together to plan, design, and build the garden space that will add to the balance of the environment and enrich student learning experiences. Students and staff are grateful for the support and generosity of financial donors and community partners that make projects like this possible.
Four Walls Transformed
A library has the potential to be so much more than a space to house books. A well designed library is a welcoming place for people to read, to study, to gather in small groups for discussion, to ponder a project or a new idea. Generous donations from Hunterdon Prep supporters made it possible to modernize our library with a warm and inviting design, new shelving, study carrels, and comfortable spaces where students and staff can work together.
Information Technology
During our 2019 Outside the Box Evening of Support event we introduced the Hunterdon Prep Giving Tree. One of our requests was for additional Chromebook computers for our students. This technology has a significant impact on our students' learning experiences because the software we utilize provides immediate feedback and reinforcement which is most helpful to complex learners. The Chromebooks also provide many other features that help students and staff collaborate cohesively with group projects.
Student Experiences
Hunterdon Prep art students visit the Philadelphia Magic Gardens created by Isaiah Zagar. We strive to take every opportunity to provide meaningful "outside the classroom" experiences for our students. Donations to Hunterdon Prep allow us to expand our field trip options and also allow us to fund exceptional guest speakers.
