PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

At Hunterdon Prep our admissions process begins after a student's records have been reviewed by the admissions team and it has been deemed that HPS is a good match for the student. There are four criteria that must be met before a child can be considered for admission:

  • Your child must be deemed eligible for an out-of-district placement by your child's Child Study Team.
  • Your child's district must make a formal referral to Hunterdon Preparatory School
  • Your child's records must be sent to Hunterdon Prep by the Child Study Team
  • Your child's records are reviewed by Hunterdon Prep to determine if HPS is a good match for your child.

STUDENT INTERVIEW AND PARENT MEETING

If we feel our program is a good match for your child we will contact your child's case manager to schedule an interview appointment. At the interview appointment the student will meet with the head of our counseling department, and the parents and case manager will meet with our Executive Director.

During this scheduled visit, the prospective student will also tour the school with a current student. This gives the prospective student the opportunity to meet other students and staff, see our campus, and have time for some peer to peer conversation about our program.

At the conclusion of the interview and tour, the student, parents, case manager, and admissions team come together to answer any additional questions.

ROLLING ADMISSIONS

Hunterdon Prep utilizes a rolling admissions process and students are accepted throughout the year.

ACCEPTANCE TO HUNTERDON PREP

Acceptance to Hunterdon Prep is the result of a collaborative decision between the student, the student's parent(s) or guardian(s), the district case manager, the Hunterdon Preparatory School Supervisor of Counseling Services and the Executive Director. It is important that all involved people feel that the student can benefit from the programs of study offered by Hunterdon Prep, and that the student meets the admissions requirements. More information about these important aspects can be found in the section, "HPS and My Child."

To learn more about Hunterdon Prep and to discuss the admissions process please contact Cathy Smith, Administrative Assistant, at 908.832.7200 or csmith@hunterdonprep.org. Cathy can answer questions, arrange a tour, or schedule an appointment for you to meet with our Executive Director.
