trip eligibility statement
At HPS, field trips and extracurricular activities are rich with learning opportunities that are as important to our student’s growth and success as classroom instruction. We invite you to encourage and support your child’s participation in any HPS activity that he or she expresses an interest in.
A student’s eligibility for extracurricular trips and activities is determined by the HPS staff. Eligibility criteria can include satisfactory daily attendance, academic performance, and the demonstration of responsible behavior.
When possible, trip facilitators will try and include all eligible students. On trips where the number of participants must be limited by the nature of the activity, eligible students will be included on a first- come-first-served basis.
Some trips are invitational in nature. Students who have previously demonstrated a high degree of interest and experience with the trip’s specific activity will be invited to participate by the trip facilitator at the facilitator’s discretion.
