NJ Schools Remain Closed through April 17th

Dear parents and guardians,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones in good health and positive spirits. On behalf of the HPS staff, I want to thank you for your generous and patient support as we continue to explore ways to educate and care for our students from a distance. We deeply miss spending our days with them and look forward to the day that we’re all together again.

We are currently following the recent Executive Order from Governor Murphy that directed: "All public, private, and parochial preschool programs, and elementary and secondary schools, including charter and renaissance schools, will be closed beginning on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, and remain closed as long as the Order remains in effect".

The Governor’s new Order now closes all schools through April 17.  Our Spring Break (April 10-April 17, 2020) will remain as scheduled.  Virtual classes will not be held during the break.  We have also decided that  Friday, April 3rd and Thursday, April 9th  will be early dismissal days.  The school day will end at 12:30 and no instruction or assignments will be given during these afternoons.

Additionally, the State of New Jersey applied for a waiver from the federal government to exempt New Jersey schools from participating in NJSLA testing this school year.  The waiver was approved so students will not have to take the NJSLA test this Spring.

Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns. We are available by phone and email during weekly school hours.

Yours truly,

Toby Ray Loyd
Executive Director
