On March 11, students and staff from HPS headed northwest to the Poconos for an afternoon and
evening on the slopes at Shawnee Mountain. The day’s warm temperatures turned the snow into
“mashed potatoes,” making for excellent conditions for our beginners.
With the mountain all to ourselves, the HPS crew headed out for some alpine fun. Our beginner
skiers laughed and smiled after their lessons, spending time falling down and getting back up
again. On open slopes, two of our experienced skiers racked up plenty of runs and were later
joined by two students who advanced from the bunny hill to the “big” hill, finishing the night on
the green and blue trails. Way to go!
After sharing time together over dinner in the Shawnee lodge, skiing wrapped up at 7:00 PM.
The bus ride home was lively, with students sharing stories and laughs from a great day on the
mountain. What a fantastic trip and a great way to spend time together outdoors!
