March is Youth Art Month!
Across the country, March celebrates the importance of art education in our schools—and here at HPS we’re proud to highlight the creativity of our amazing young artists with three special events!
Draw BIG – March 31 (14th Year!): Students are invited to the Community Room to play drawing games, spark their creativity, and feed off each other’s artistic energy. We’ll draw together and end the event with a Gallery Walk so everyone can share the artwork they created.
Young Artist Showcase at the Hunterdon Art Museum: Starting Saturday, March 28, HPS will have 25 student artworks on display for two weeks as part of the Young Artist Showcase. This is an exciting opportunity for our aspiring artists to have their work displayed in a real contemporary art museum!
The Annual YAM Project: One of our favorite traditions is underway! Students are transforming real yams into creative works of art. From birds and fish to chickens, Pokémon characters, and more, it’s always fun to see these tubers come to life. This project encourages students to think outside the box and use any materials they can find in the art room.
We are so proud of our talented students and the creativity they bring to our school community every day. Happy Youth Art Month!
