Hunterdon Prep strives at all times to be a positive force in our community and the world. During these difficult times, doing everything that we can to provide support and assistance is even more important.
With that in mind, our community service theme for the 2020-21 school year is “Helping the Helpers” and our first project is a food drive to benefit the Flemington Area Food Pantry.
A majority of food banks across the country have reported seeing a record increase in the number of people needing help. Between March and June, roughly 4 in 10 people visiting food banks had not received food assistance before the pandemic.
Our food drive will begin this week and will end on Friday, October 2. A list of needed items is below. Let’s get to work helping as many helpers and neighbors as we can!
- Pancake mix
- Cold cereal (preferably low sugar)
- Canned chicken
- Fruit cocktail or pineapple (ideally in juice)
- Crackers
- Beef or vegetable soups
- Cooking oil
- Coffee or tea
- Diapers (sizes 4, 5, and 6)
- Laundry detergent (ideally unscented)
- Liquid dish soap
- Toilet paper
- Food store gift cards (to purchase proteins)
