Dear Parents/Guardians,
We would like to inform you that HPS high school students will be participating in the New Jersey Students Learning Assessments (NJSLA) administration starting next week. These statewide assessments measure their academic performance in English language arts (ELA), mathematics, and science as defined in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS). These computer-based assessments are aligned to the New Jersey State standards. Testing will be administered for 9th grade Reading & Writing, Algebra 1 students (and any 9th grade Geometry students) and 11th grade students for Science Only.
Testing will take place from 9:30 am -12:00 pm. Please try to make sure your child is on-time and present in school on testing dates. Otherwise, they will be required to do make-up testing.
- Wednesday, May 6 and Thursday, May 7: 9th Grade ELA Testing
- Friday, May 8: 9th Grade Writing
- Monday, May 11 and Tuesday, May 12: Algebra 1 (or Geometry if you took Algebra in 9th grade)
- Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 14:11th Grade Science
In order to help promote success and be ready for testing each day, please encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the state assessment, feel free to contact me by phone or email, mevancho@hunterdonprep.org or 908-832-7200 ext 16.
Sincerely, Melissa Evancho
