VIRTUAL LEARNING FAQ
Our summer program, Summer Discovery, will be held July 6 - August 14, 2020. This is the 12th year of our summer program. Safety and health considerations have led us to decide that our Summer Discovery Program (SDP) will be presented in a virtual environment. We are excited about our plans for the students this summer. This year's Commencement will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Although Governor Murphy has announced that he will allow in-person graduation celebrations beginning on July 6, he has yet to lift the ban on outdoor gatherings of more than 25 people. It is impossible to predict when these restrictions will be lifted or what new guidelines will replace them. Therefore, we are going to proceed to hold our graduation in the virtual environment.
The program will also be posted on YouTube for forty-eight hours following Thursday’s presentation. The link will be provided soon. Click here to read Toby Loyd's graduation update.
Hunterdon Preparatory School is currently offering virtual Parent/Student visits.
Students were permitted to return to school on June 15th and 16th according to a specific schedule. Items were picked up and dropped of curbside. Student lockers were cleaned out by our staff, and their contents made available during the drop off. Student items from the health office were also be available for pick up.
All procedures were done in a safe and orderly process, with students, parents, and staff wearing masks.
The Hunterdon Prep maintenance staff will continue to be employed full time to provide for a safe, secure, and sanitized facility. Each week our staff is provided with a building sign-in sheet. Staff may sign up for the day and hour(s) he/she will be in the building. We allow no more than two staff in the building during any one time period. All interior doors are locked. On each interior door of the school, there is a sign-in sheet. Whoever accesses the room will record the date and time the room was occupied. Rooms are sanitized by maintenance staff after each use. There are no visitors allowed to enter the building unless they are cleared by the administration.
Our counseling program continues to provide support to our students in many ways. Each student has scheduled virtual group sessions that occur three times per week (the link to these sessions is posted on Google classroom). Additionally, students can request to have individual check-in calls with their counselor when needed. Students can sign up on our school’s counseling document, The Virtual Bench, (a Google sheets document) on which they indicate a need to have individual support from a counselor beyond receiving weekly group session services. Counselors are alerted when students sign up on the Virtual Bench document and then correspond with the individual student to select a time for the phone check-in. Counselors also provide email check-ins with students and parents if concerns arise and, with parent permission, can connect with outside treatment providers (therapists, psychiatrists, etc.)
