EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSING AND DELAYED OPENINGS
Because our students are bused from school districts both near and far, and because weather and road conditions vary from one area to another, we have established a procedure for all districts and transportation companies to follow with regard to transporting students to the Hunterdon Preparatory School in inclement weather.
The decision to close the Hunterdon Preparatory School is based on information regarding road conditions from the North Hunterdon-Voorhees Regional High School District. Therefore, in most cases, if the North Hunterdon-Voorhees School District is closed, the Hunterdon Preparatory School is closed.
The Hunterdon Preparatory School will announce school closings on:
- the homepage of our website (www.hunterdonprep.org)
- our Facebook page
- nj1015.com/closings (click here)
- you may call the school to hear a recorded message regarding closing of school (908.832.7200
Parents will receive an automated call from the school in the event of an emergency closing. Phone calls regarding winter weather delays and closure usually go out between the hours of 5:00 and 6:00 AM. BE SURE THAT WE HAVE YOUR UP-TO-DATE CONTACT INFORMATION!
Bus companies/drivers will be notified by telephone if the Hunterdon Preparatory School is closed.
In the event that the Hunterdon Preparatory School is open but the home district is closed, the decision to transport students is up to the discretion of individual bus companies and drivers considering the weather conditions in their area and the policy of individual school districts.
Fire/School Security Drills
To help keep our school community safe, the school will hold monthly safety drills. In accordance with NJ state regulations, the school will hold one fire drill and one security drill per month. Security drills will include, but are not limited to, lock-down, non-fire evacuation, shelter in-place, and severe weather drills
- Students must follow designated procedures for each drill, remain orderly, and refrain from running and talking during the drills.
- Drill procedures will be reviewed with students and staff on a monthly basis.
