We are pleased to announce that Hunterdon Preparatory School (HPS) will once again be offering our students the opportunity to enroll in a college-level course titled "Pathways to College Success" (see course description below) for the spring 2026 semester. This educational opportunity, open to eligible HPS juniors and seniors, was developed in collaboration between Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) and HPS personnel to introduce students to the skills and strategies necessary for successful transition from high school to college, and to practice those skills in a supportive classroom environment.
This course, held on the RVCC campus, will be taught by an RVCC professor and supported by HPS instructor Michael Villafane. The class will start on Monday, January 26th, and end on May 4, 2026. The class will meet on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. HPS will provide transportation. The class will culminate with a final project known as The Passion Project. Students who complete and pass the course will earn two transferable college credits from RVCC.
HPS will provide transportation to RVCC except on Monday, February 16th, when HPS is closed for President’s Day, and on Monday, April 6th, when HPS is closed for spring break. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation to RVCC on these day.
Today, we met with all juniors and seniors to discuss the course, answer students' questions about this opportunity, and discuss the class eligibility requirements. To be eligible to enroll, students must show a level of readiness and meet the following criteria: Good Academic Standing, 3.0 min., Good Attendance, Trustworthiness, Ability to Follow Staff Directions, and Ability to Follow Through on Commitments.
Students interested in the course must sign up with HPS teacher, Michael Villafane, by Tuesday, November 11th. HPS staff will meet to determine your child’s eligibility and contact you to let you know if your child has been accepted into the course.
Students are responsible for paying RVCC directly for the tuition and fees associated with the course. Students are eligible for the In-County tuition rate. Information about the cost of the class is forthcoming and will be sent via email along with a Parental Consent form. A minimum enrollment of six students is needed to hold the course.
We welcome you to direct any questions you may have concerning this opportunity to Michael Villafane, at mvillafane@hunterdonprep.org
