Exciting art project!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are working on a very exciting project in art class that we want to share with you.

The Edward Gorey House Museum in Cape Cod, MA has an annual envelope art contest and we, as a school, are entering artwork! Edward Gorey was a very famous, but not too well known American artist, author and illustrator whose style of art perfectly fits a spooky Halloween theme. This year's theme is Evil Garden and the students have been hard at work drawing their versions of what an evil garden looks like, right on an envelope. They are super impressive so far.

We will mail them all individually through the post office, which is a requirement of the contest. Inside each envelope, the students are filling out an entry form supplied by the museum. It includes each student's name, address, phone # and email. The students are using their home address, but if they win, they will be contacted by email. The winners will have their envelope on display in the museum and they will be awarded a prize. We have not been told what the prizes are...

We are also using this project for our annual HPS Halloween art contest so there is a chance that some students could win twice!  I wanted to let everyone know and if there are any questions or concerns, please reach out to Susan Bleignier, art teacher, ext 34 or by email sbleignier@hunterdonprep.org.

Thanks and Happy Halloween!
