Updated COVID Protocols

August 22, 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am writing to let you know that at Hunterdon Prep we remain vigilant about the health and safety of our entire school community. One way we can all work to ensure this is by committing to stay home when feeling ill or displaying illness-related symptoms.

We are asking all of our families to complete and return one of the following forms. You can type right onto the forms:

2022-2023 Parent Healthy Pledge form for 7th-12th grade students.

Healthy Pledge form for our 12+ students.

Please email your completed form to our School Nurse, Sandy Sanchez at nurse@hunterdonprep.org by Thursday, September 1, 2022.

As for our Covid-19 protocols, you will find that we will largely return to a normal school year due to the updated guidance from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).  The latest guidance moves away from individual case reporting and contact tracing to a more normal procedure for managing illnesses within our school.

While we will remain on the lookout for outbreaks of COVID-19 at HPS, we are no longer engaging in contact tracing or implementing any quarantines for close contacts of positive cases. Masking remains voluntary for individuals, including on school buses. Of course, any student or staff member can wear a mask for personal health reasons.

HPS will continue to follow the NJDOH recommendation for positive COVID-19 cases. If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they must stay home for five (5) days from the onset of symptoms. Staff and students may return to school as long as individuals are 24 hours fever free, and masks are recommended for an additional five (5) days.

COVID-19 cases will continue to be among us in schools. In order to control the spread of disease, please practice good hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and stay home when ill. We ask that everyone at HPS continue to take symptoms seriously, and exercise precautions to ensure that everyone in our community remains safe and available for learning.

Kindest regards,

Alisa Cooper-Kopacz, MSW, LCSW

Interim Executive Director
