Our Plans for the Second Marking Period

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the patience and support that you continue to offer to our school during these very difficult times.  Your messages of encouragement and affirmation have helped us to maintain high motivation and morale as we take on the challenges of educating and supporting your children in the midst of a global pandemic.

As you are aware, COVID 19 virus infections are on the rise across the nation.  New Jersey currently urges voluntary 14-day self-quarantine for anyone traveling to all but five U.S. states.  For these reasons, we have decided that HPS will continue with our current hybrid schedule through the end of the second marking period on January 22, 2021.  It is our hope that we will be able to return to a normal schedule sooner than later, but not until it is safe to do so.

As we begin the new marking period, please remind your child that whether they attend school 100% virtually or participate in the hybrid schedule, the following expectations apply for all virtual classes:

  • School appropriate dress is required for virtual classes.
  • Students are not to use electronic devices during class time other than the device being utilized to access their class.
  • Microphones are to be muted until the teacher has given permission to unmute.
  • Students are to be on time for class.  Students arriving late to class will be marked tardy.
  • Students should work in a quiet, distraction-free space to attend virtual class, preferably seated in a chair at a desk or table.
  • Students are to remain in class until they are dismissed by their teacher. Students are not to leave class early without the permission of their teacher.
  • Attendance for virtual classes is mandatory.  Failure to attend or adhere to the expectations above may result in a lowered grade.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  On behalf of the HPS staff, I wish you and your loved ones good health and persevering spirits.

Sincerely,

Toby Ray Loyd
Executive Director
