On December 6th, HPS hosted its first therapy dog Meet and Greet event for students. Nine amazing therapy dog teams from the Bright and Beautiful Therapy Dog organization attended and brought smiles and joy to all who came. From the tiniest to the furriest to the biggest of dogs, all were welcomed visitors!
Therapy dogs are trained to provide emotional support which positively impacts reading skills, emotional functioning and communication skills. In addition, the use of therapy dogs may decrease anxiety, improve self-esteem and increase overall academic achievement in students.
