Every year the students and staff at Hunterdon Prep volunteer their time and talents for a community service theme that inspires us all! This year’s theme is “LOCAL ACTION WITH A GLOBAL REACH”.
On September 20, we kicked off our 2017 community service program with a school-wide assembly from the founder and CEO of PEDALS FOR PROGRESS™. David Schweidenback, a former Peace Corp volunteer turned social entrepreneur, spoke about the thousands of bicycles and sewing machines that they have rescued from landfills and recycled around the globe in an effort to boost economic opportunities abroad. To read more about this really cool program, check them out at www.p4p.org!
We have decided that all monies raised through our annual Hawk Walk walk-a-thon, being held on October 6, will be donated to Pedals for Progress to help pay for the shipping of bicycles and sewing machines to their new homes overseas. We are looking forward to walking and working to help this awesome organization!
