In October, Hunterdon Prep art classes learned about the Mexican holiday, Dias de los Muertos. We looked at this folk art style of painting and sculpture and the meaning of the skeleton symbol - much different than when used for Halloween.
This holiday celebrates the life and love of passed loved ones and is a happy holiday. The use of pattern and color is a huge theme in the art. Students created polymer clay replicas of sugar skulls and skeletons dressed in festive garb to commemorate this art lesson.
